
Veaceslav Ionita was born on October 4, 1973. Starting from 1997 and until present he is active as Associate Professor at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, teaching Public Policy. From 2000, Mr. Ionita was expert in one the largest Think Tanks in Moldova IDIS “Viitorul”, the main expert areas being: public finance, financial market and banks system regulation, regulatory policy, and other related issues. Starting from 2009 to 2014 he was Member of the Parliament and the Chair of the Committee for Economy, Budget and Finance of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The target areas of the Committee are: public finance, financial markets, banks system, national economy sectors, including industry and energy.
He led the Parliamentary commission on the investigation of raider attacks on the largest Moldovan bank in 2011. The result of the investigation was the dismissal of the SIS director and the CNFF president, a unique case in the Moldovan parliamentary history.
Between 2013 and 2014, as Chairman of the parliamentary committee he was responsible for monitoring and investigating the situation in the banking system. He was the first official who publicly warned about the frauds in the banking system, which ended with the embezzlement of about a million dollars.
